Karunanidhi flays Jaya for demanding resignation of PM
Chennai, Sep 6 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today flayed AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa for demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
Answering a set of questions, Mr Karunanidhi wondered whether the AIADMK leader was trying to woo the Left parties, by launching a tirade against Dr Singh.
Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of ''misleading Parliament and lying to the nation'' on the deal, Ms Jayalalithaa had, yesterday, alleged that the Prime Minister stood totally exposed and had lost his credibility in the international arena, and demanded his resignation.
Reacting to this, Mr Karunanidhi said Ms Jayalalithaa had been demanding the resignations of all those who were in power, assuming everything would be alright, if the AIADMK leader, who had committed many acts of corruption, comes back to power.
Ms Jayalalithaa, who had been demanding the resignation of Tamil Nadu Ministers by organising agitations, was now demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, he said.
''Is the BJP, with which she tried to forge an alliance opposed to the nuclear deal or is she trying to woo the Left parties to forge an alliance through her statement,'' Mr Karunanidhi asked.
He said elections to Lok Sabha are to take place in a year's time and it was in this backdrop, that Ms Jayalalithaa had demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister.
