Indian trio misses the cut in Switzerland

By Staff

Crans Montana, Switzerland, Sep 6 (UNI) The Indian trio of Shiv Kapur, Digvijay Singh and Gaurav Ghei failed to make it to the money round as they missed the halfway cut of even par 142 at the Omega European Masters here.

While Shiv Kapur (69, 74) totalled one over 143 for the first two rounds, Digvijay Singh (73, 76) ended the tournament at seven over 149. Gaurav Ghei (73, 78) was nine over 151 at the end of round two.

A last hole double bogey cooked Shiv Kapur's goose as he missed the cut at the European Masters by a stroke after turning in a horrendous three-over 74 in the second round here.

The Delhi-pro ended his campaign with a two-round total of one-over 143.

Kapur was off the block with a birdie in the first but two bogeys at the fifth and ninth holes saw him make the turn at one-over.

However, Kapur was left ruing his back nine which saw him drop a bogey in the 16th, two double bogeys at the 10th and 18th and a hat-trick of birdies from 13th to 15th hole.

If Kapur had a nightmarish day, his compatriots Gaurav Ghei (78) and Digvijay Singh (76) were even worse as both of them fell by the wayside with an aggregate of nine-over 151 and seven-over 149 respectively.
