Government to talk with Kuki militants soon
Imphal, Sep 6 (UNI) In order to hold talks with Kuki militants, the state government discussed the issue in the first meeting of the Joint Monitoring Group held here yesterday.
The ground work for the talks has been completed as the Suspension of Operations (SOO) between militants and the Union government was signed in New Delhi on August 22, official sources today said.
Centre and state government officials will be monitoring the talks, sources said adding that it will also be held with all the central forces like Army, Assam Rifles, BSF and CRPF.
About two dozen militant groups operating in the state, will also be involved in the talks, sources informed.
The state government had demanded that the cadres should remain in a specific designated area and not around the National Highways which the Union government agreed.
