Puducherry, Sep 6: The Puducherry administration will introduce the Goondas Act here during the next assembly session, Civil Supplies minister M Kandasamy said here today.
Speaking at a function organised by the civil supplies department to distribute cheques for a subsidy of Rs 30 a cylinder announced by Chief Minister V Vaithilingam for agencies, Mr Kandasamy said he had made the announcement just two days back and the Chief Secretary had taken steps to implement it immediately.
The new government would implement all schemes quickly, he said, adding that the Cabinet would act unitedly and swiftly.
Mr Kandasamy said there was no difference of opinion with former Chief Minister N Rangasamy. He is also a member Congress and had done a lot for the development of this territory and the schemes evolved by him would also be implemented forthwith.
Stating that all steps were being taken to eradicate bogus ration cards, Mr Kandasamy said the civil supplies department was directed to check and seize all the red colour ration cards possesed by the government employees, if any.
Mr Vaithilingam, who distributed the cheques said this was the first function of the new government. During the price hike for petroleum products, Congress President Sonia Gandhi had advised state governments to to bear the cost and provide relief to the public.
At that time Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi announced a subsidy to LPG cylinders. This was being implemnented in the union territory also now.
He said all efforts would be made to ensure proper maintenance of law and order. There will be no political intervention and at the same time nobody would be allowed to cross the limit.
The Rs 30 subsidy for LPG cylinders could be availed by consumers with one cylinder only. Such consumers should register their ration card with their gas agencies to avail the benefit.
