Srinagar, Sep 6 (UNI) Chairmen of both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) head Mohammad Yaseen Malik remained under house arrest in the Kashmir valley.
Mirwaiz Omar and Mr Malik were put under house arrest on September one immediately after their release from more than a week-long detention.
They were arrested on August 24 and 25 to prevent them from leading 'Lal Chowk Chalo' march as decided by the Coordination Committee (CC), spearheading the present agitation in the valley.
A large number of security forces and police personnel have been deployed outside the house of Mirwaiz and he was not being allowed to move out, a spokesman of the HC Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam said.
He said Mirwaiz was not even allowed to offer Friday prayers in the Jamia Masjid yesterday.
Similarly Mr Malik remained confined within his Maisuma resident as he too was not allowed to move out.
Mr Geelani said after his announcement of offering prayers at Hazratbal shrine, large number of CRPF and police personnel surrounded his Hyderpora residence on September four and told him that he was not allowed to move out.
Yesterday, police fired teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse supporters of Mr Geelani who had gathered outside his residence protesting against his arrest.
Meanwhile, more than 100 senior and second rank separatist leaders, including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Aiyaz Akbar, Masarat Alam, and Asiya Indrabi were detained in different jails and police stations.
