Fire in ONGC rig extinguished
Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) Five crew members of Oil&Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC) contractual rig Pride Pennsylvania were injured in a fire during drilling operations at its Mumbai High South field today.
An ONGC spokesperson said that the fire was caused due to a mechanical malfunctioning at 1350 hrs. The injured crew members were evacuated to the Juhu Helibase. The fire has been extinguished.
The other 82 crew members of the rig were safe. Senior officers of ONGC have rushed to the site, he added.
Drilling operations were suspended and the well has been closed, the spokesperson said.
