Devastating fire gutted a power sub-station in Bihar
Katihar, Sept 06 (UNI) A Rs 7.5 crore power turbine was totally destroyed in a devastating fire at the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) sub-station here this morning.
District Magistrate Debottam Verma informing this said the fire at the Lalihai sub-station was first noticed at around 04-00 hours before it engulfed the huge turbine of 32 KVA and spread to other parts of the sub-station.
Soon about 20 fire tenders rushed to the spot and fought for nearly four hours to control the blaze. However, by that time the costly turbine was completely gutted.
Four BSEB employees received minor injuries when they tried to douse the flames.
Though it was apprehended that electrical short circuit might have caused the fire, the exact reason would be known following an inquiry, Fire Brigade sources said.
As a result electricity supply in the entire township had been snapped, Mr Verma said adding, however, efforts were on to restore supply at the earliest.
