Arunachal ranks 14th in PMGSY execution
Itanagar, Sep 6 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh ranks 14th behind two other northeastern states--Nagaland(11th) and Assam(12th) among 28 states in India in implementation of Pradhan Mantari Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Road Development Agency (APRRDA), K C Dhimole disclosed this while speaking at a review meeting on PMGSY at Roing under Lower Dibang Valley district yesterday.
'' Out of total 3880 habitations as per the 2001 census, 1139 were connected with all-weather roads while 2741 were yet to be connected'', he added.
He further informed that 76 per cent villages of the state do not qualify for the PMGSY scheme as they do not meet the required population criteria of 250 people.
During 2007-08, out of 67 targeted roads, 28 per cent of it were completed while remaining works will be completed by the month end, he informed.
Addressing the meeting, Rajya Sabha MP Mukut Mithi said PMGSY has come a long way for the betterment of rural people by enhancing connectivity to the remote areas in Arunachal Pradesh.

works
to
the
state
under
PMGSY,
the
former
chief
minister
said
the
department
had
shown
its
capability
and
efficiency
by
completing
many
time
bound
quality
works
all
around
the
state.
