AP Assembly adjourned sine die
Hyderabad, Sep 6 (UNI) The stormy monsoon session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die today.
The session generated much heat during the short session, which began on August 25, with the ruling and opposition parties trying to settle political scores against each other, ahead of the 2009 elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly.
Fifteen Bills were passed by the state assembly. The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) moved a notice for a no-confidence motion against Speaker K R Suresh Reddy.
The House will take up the motion for discussion during a special session on September 15.
On the last day of the session the, Speaker unveiled a portrait of former Chief Minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy in the presence of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu. Bonhomie prevailed on the occasion, with Dr Reddy exchanging greetings with Mr Naidu and the latter sharing jokes with Home Minister K Jana Reddy.
The House adopted two resolutions, including the one to urge the Centre to provide political reservation for Backward Classes in the State Assembly and the Lok Sabha.
