Unseeded TN player beats ex-Kerala champ

Kozhikode, Sep 5 (UNI) Unseeded T V Subramanian of Tamil Nadu beat four-time Kerala State Champion O T Anil Kumar in the second round of S K Pottekkat FIDE-rated All India Open Chess Tournament-2008 here today.

Results: M R Venkitesh 2 (TN) bt E Nirmal Das 1 (Ker), Prem Chand 1 (Ker) lost to Nitin S 2 (TN), Praveen Kumar C 2 (TN) bt Natarajan M 1 (TN), Kannan R 1 (TN) lost to Ram S Krishnan 2 (TN), Poovalan P 2 (TN) bt Adityan 1 P S (TN), Rajeev V M 1 (Ker) lost to Nirmal E P 2 (Ker), Debasiosh Mukherjee 2 (WB) bt J V Sai Kiran 1 (TN), Abhjit R 1 (Ker) lost to Joy Lazar 2 (Ker), Sanju Mondal 1 (Mah) lost to Palanisamy 2 (TN), Kishore V M 1.5 drew with Abdul Majeed N 1.5 (Ker), O T Anil Kumar 1 (Ker) lost to Subramanian T V 2 (TN).

More than 100 players from West Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Goa were participating in the RS 1.2 lakh prize money six-day event which began here yesterday.
