OPYC to observe September 8 as black day in Orissa
Bhubaneswar,Sep 5 (UNI)The Orissa Pradesh Youth Congress(OPYC),the youth wing of the Congress in the state, today announced to observe September 8 as a 'black day' and gherao the collectorate offices to protest the government's 'failure' to check religious violence.
OPYC president Rohit Pujari told newspersons here that the they would demand resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,imposition of President's Rule and a CBI inquiry into the Kandhamal incident during the gherao.
He said the proposed agitation was also planned in protest against permitting VHP international general secretary Pravin Bhai Togadia to visit Kandhamal while refusing permission to others,rise in incidents of dacoity,rape,Maoists activities and female foeticide and availability of spurious medicines,adulterated food in the state during the rule of the present government.
The OPYC president condemned police lathicharge on tribal women during the visit of Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal yesterday and described the incident as ''unfortunate''.
Mr.Pujari demanded the arrest of Cooperation Minister Surama Padhi and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Golak Naik for visiting Kandhamal violating the curfew regulations.
