Udupi, Sept 5 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Home Dr V S Acharya today said that the government has accorded priority for education in the State and has allocated highest budgetary allocation of over Rs 8500 Crore this year.
Speaking after Inaugurating the Udupi District Level Teachers' Day celebrations here, he said that to effectively face the future challenges in the education field and evaluation and auditing of educational standards, the state government had recently set up +Jnana Ayog+ (Knowledge Commission) under the chairmanship of Prof.
The commission would go into the details problems and remedies in the educational field, training and improvement in the Human Development Index (HDI) and give its time to time suggestions to the state government.
Dr Acharya said that to give more impetus to the technical education and vocational courses, the government had started several ITIs this year with new courses and polytechnics and one Engineering College.
The Minister honoured 10 teachers with awards for their contribution to the education field.
