Chennai, Sep 5 (UNI)Managing Director of the well known Gokulam Chits Private Limited A M Gopalan today surrendered before the City Civil Court in Chennai following a warrant in a civil suit.

After his surrender, the XVIth City Civil Court Judge S Chinnasamy recalled the warrant and directed him to appear before the court on September eight and record his evidence.

Petitioner M Balan, a trader in Chennai, submitted that he had borrowed Rs 4.5 lakh from the company and gave some property documents, and two empty stamp papers on the company's assurance that it would give 45 lakh as loan.

Instead of sanctioning further loan, Gopalan filled up the empty stamp paper in the name of his close friend R Raveendran and took possession of the petitioner's shop situated in Thambuchetti Street, Balan contended.

On a petition filed by Balan, the Judge issed witness summons to Gopalan in 2007, but he failed to appear before the court.

On August 13, 2008, the Judge issued a bailable warrant against Gopalan and directed him to appear before the court today.
