Court rejects pre-arrest bail plea of passport scandal accused
Moga, Sep 5 (UNI) A local court today rejected the pre-arrest bail application of an accused in the Moga passport scandal.
Additional sessions judge Amarjot Bhatti rejected the pre-arrest bail application of Gurdial Singh, head constable of security branch of SSP office, who was alleged of tempering of the records and forging of certificates of birth and education and issuing clearance certificates of police verifications for passports The pre-arrest bail applications of other four accused involved in the case, head constables Ranjit Singh and Jaswinder Singh, Didar Singh of regional passport office Chandigarh and Bhupinder Singh, a travel agent in Dharamkot, had already been rejected on August 17.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Border Range R P Meena in a communication to all the SSPs of the border range--Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Ferozepur and Moga districts, directed them to be cautious while issuing police verification reports for passports. He also directed all the SSPs for the complete overhauling of the security branches of respective districts dealing with verification reports.
