Chennai, Sep 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy said the Centre has sanctioned an additional 600 MW of power to the State.
Talking to newspersons after his arrival from New Delhi at Chennai airport late last night, Mr Veerasamy said of the 600 MW, the Centre had already supplied 100 MW with a promise that 200 MW will be provided today.
The balance 300 MW will be supplied on September 10, he added.
The minister said the state was facing a shortage of 1500 MW of power, out of which 600 MW would meet the requirements of villages.
He said the State Government was also planning to reduce power- cuts from five hours to four hours daily.
Mr Veerasamy alleged that opposition parties were misleading the people with ''incorrect information'' on the power situation in the State.
