New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Considering the softening of prices of crude oil in the international market for the last two weeks, the BJP today demanded the government to reduce the price of petrol by Rs five and diesel by Rs three to give relief to the consumers.
BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the present prices were fixed when a barrel of crude cost 140 US dollars and for the last two weeks, the prices were hovering around 104 to 106 dollars. This worked out to a reduction of 20 dollar in the procurement costs and it was only fair that the Petroleum Ministry which had hiked the price because of hardening of international prices to pass on the benefit to the consumers.
He said there had been revision in the aircraft fuel because of the easing of situation and this benefit should reflect in the passenger fares also, he said.
