Bangalore, Sep 5: The bandh in Raichur town, demanding the arrest of those who set four Ganesh pandals on fire on Wednesday night continued for the second day, today.
Police said the situation in the town was tense but under control.
Shops, educational institutions and commercial establishments remained closed. Public transport was off the road for the second day in support of the bandh.
District authorities have imposed prohibitory orders since yesterday after some youths went on a rampage for over eight hours to protest against the incidents.
About 40 people were taken into custody yesterday as a precautionary measure, police said.
