Puducherry, Sep 4 : V Vaidhilingam will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry here on Thursday, Sep 4. Lt. Governor Govind Singh Gurjar will administer the oath of office and secrecy to him along with five other ministers.
The formation of a new ministry became necessary as N Rangasamy stepped down as Chief Minister on August 28 following sustained revolt by a majority of the ten Congress legislators, including five ministers of his six-member cabinet, against him. V Vaithulingam, who will become the Chief Minister for second term, had held post 1991 to 1996. He also headed the Congress Legislative party from 1991 - 2000.
