UP STF nabs wanted criminal in Assam

Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) Notorious criminal wanted in several cases of murder, kidnappings and other major crime in western Uttar Pradesh and in Haryana and Rajasthan Janak Yadav alias Ajay Jadega was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Guwahati today.

Jadeja was absconding for last couple of months after he escaped from the custody of UP police from Gurgaon in Haryana.

Additional Director General of Police (STF) Brijlal said here that police officials from Meerut has airdashed to Guwahati to bring the criminal, against whom the state police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000.

He said that Ajay Jadega was wanted in several criminal cases including conspiracy in murder of the deputy jailer of Meerut early this year while several cases of extortion and kidnapping cases.

According to sources the criminals was caught through electronic surveillance when he was in Assam along with the widow of one of his slain gang member.

Deputy SP of the STF Ram Badan Singh led the team in nabbing the criminal at Guwahati.

Ajay created severe panic for the traders and others in western UP and even committed crimes from the jail. He is also known to be maintaining colse proximity with some senior police officials.

A resident of Sipri Bazar of Jhansi, there are 31 cases of crime lodged against him in Rajasthan, Haryana and UP.
