Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) Youth wings of the Samajwadi Party (SP) today announced to hold peaceful demonstrations in all the colleges and universities of Uttar Pradesh on September 22 for immediate conduct of union elections.
The four youth wings -- Lohia Vahini, Chatra Sabha, Mulayam Youth Brigade and Yuvjan Sabha -- would also hold a six-day awareness drive in all the colleges from September 15 to discuss the delay in holding the students Union election, lodging of fake cases against the student leaders and other issues.
Addressing a press conference here, in-charge of all the four organisations and Lok Sabha member Akhilesh Yadav said the party had accepted the state government decision to hold the students Union elections on the Lyndoh Committee recommendations and would abide by the government's decision that criminals should not be entertained in the process.
He said the demonstration would be held in those colleges and varsities, where union polls had not been completed so far.
Earlier, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had addressed the members of the four frontal organisations and directed them to prepare themselves for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
He said if SP wins 50 seats in the LS polls, then the youth would get a major share and the party would dictate terms in the formation of next government at the Centre.
