Six killed, 14 injured in Kishtwar accident
Jammu, Sep 4 (UNI) At least six people were killed, 14 injured, three of them critically when a pick-up van in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here today said.
''The mini bus, which was on its way from Kishtwar to Thathri, skidded off the road just two-kms short of its destination and fell into river Chenab around 1100 hrs, when the driver lost his control while negotiating a sharp turn,'' Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Doda-Ramban Range Hemant Kumar Lohia told UNI.
Mr Lohia confirmed that six people died on the spot while 14 passengers were injured and the critically wounded would be shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu.
However on receiving information, Police and Army rushed to the spot and started rescue operations, sources added.
