Lahore, Sep 4 (UNI) Controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's stint with the English County received a major setback after he was denied entry to the United Kingdom due to visa problems.
Shoaib, however, seems eagerly waiting to get his Surrey career under way. The bowler now plans to travel to London this weekend after obtaining a work visa.
''I had to come back because I did not have all the papers required, the 33-year-old pacer was quoted as saying by a website.
Shoaib, who has a 10-year visitor's visa in UK, said the authorities there required a work visa.
''I am hopeful of getting a work visa soon and hope to fly out to the UK on Saturday,'' he added.
Shoaib was looking forward to his Surrey sojourn to prove his fitness and stake his claim into the national side.
The bowler, who was also included into the high-profile Champions Trophy, which has been postponed until October next year, has been surrounded with controversies and has not played competitive cricket for last one year.
