Mauritius govt sets up ministerial committee to assist flood victims

Patna,Sept 04 (UNI)Reiterating his country's commitment to stand by the Bihar government to help overcome the unprecedented natural calamity, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam has set up a high power 'Ministerial Committee' to provide assistance and arrange donations for the flood victims.

In a letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar yesterday, the copies of which were released here today,Dr Ramgoolam expressed his and his countrymen's ''deep sympathy to the victims of a devastating and unprecedented floods in large areas of Bihar'' and said ''We firmly stand by you in your endeavour to bring relief to those affected''.

''Your determination and resolve to face the present setbacks and challenges have earned you the admiration of the people of Mauritius,'' Dr Ramgoolam said and announced to set up a 'Ministerial Committee' ''in order to assist you in all perspective''.

''We will be making a donation accordingly,'' the Mauritius Prime Minister also affirmed in his letter.

Expressing his ''sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved families,'' Dr Ramgoolam said ''In these tragic times we grieve with you and join you in prayer for the souls of the innocent men,women and children whose lives have been cut short''.
