Kolkata, Sep 4 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today said Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi's initiatives in mediating talks between her party and the state government tomorrow would ''make people smile'' in West Bengal.

Ms Banerjee told newspersons that the Governor's move would help both the farmers and industrialists continue their work, along with generating employment opportunities for the state. ''There will be no problem,'' she averred.

She also informed that Leader of the Opposition Partha Chatterjee, Trinamool Law Cell leader Kalyan Banerjee, Singur Krishi Jomi Rakhha Committee Convenor Becharam Manna, MLA (Singur) Rabindranath Bhattacharya and Singur Krishi Jomi Rakhha Committee leader Purnendu Bose had met the Governor during the day.

Furthermore, the Trinamool chief said the salary of the state government staff should be at par with the central goverment staff and added that the former had been deprived during the Left Front rule.

In this regard, Ms Banerjee called for a law violation programme on September 15, urging the state government staff to participate in it.

Singur remained by and large peaceful during the day with no reports of any untoward incident taking place.
