LPG version of Santro to be rolled out this month, Accent in Oct
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Hyundai Motors India Ltd today said it plans to roll out the LPG verison of the Santro this month, while the Accent version will come out in October.
''We will launch the LPG-powered Santro this month, while the Accent (with LPG) will be brought out in October,'' company Managing Director H S Lheem told reporters here.
CNG-driven Santros and Accents are already in the market, with an average of 800 units being sold per month.
HMIL is currently sourcing CNG and LPG kits from two companies in Korea, CEV and Motonic.
With fuel costs soaring and sales taking a hit, auto makers are now looking at alternate fuels like LPG and CNG versions for growth.
This becomes more relevant as the festive season is appraoching and a major chunk of annual sales occurs during this time.
Companies remain confident of good sales this year, though the beginning of the year was marred by an increased cost of petrol and diesel and increase in prices of the vehicles as well (as input costs soared).
The rising interest rates played spoil sport as well, with sales dipping.
