Govt sets up expert group to find new method to conduct BPL census
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The government today set up a 17-member expert group to recommend a more suitable methodology for conducting next below poverty line (BPL) census.
Headed by former rural development secretary M Shankar, the group has been tasked with evolving a simple and more transparent methodology to identify actually poor BPL households in the rural areas for providing assistance to them, Rural Development Ministry said.
The group has been asked to submit its report within six months, the Ministry added.
