Good rapport between Govt and party: Vaithilingam
Puducherry, Sep 4: Mr V Vaithilingam, who assumed office as the new Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry, on Thursday, Sep 4 asserted that there would be good rapport between government and the party.
Talking to newspersons at the Pradesh Congress Committee office after assuming office, Mr Vaithilingam thanked all those who attended the swearing-in ceremony and also leaders, including Congress President Sonia Gandhi who put faith on him.
Replying to a question, he said the scheme to provide one sovereign gold coin to teachers retiring on the Teachers Day would continue.
Even, if it can not be provided tomorrow at the function, the coin would be given to them on a later date, he added.
There were rumours that the scheme would be discontinued from this year owing to paucity of funds.
