CPI rakes up nuclear deal issue in Assembly
Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today contended in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly that the Bush administration's secret letter to the Congress vindicated his party's stand that the 123 Agreement with the United States was not in the interest of India.
Raising the issue during Zero hour, CPI floor leader C H Venkata Reddy demanded that the process of operationalising the Nuclear Deal be dropped, in the wake of the disclosures made in the letter.
Objecting to the CPI legislator's mention on a matter not within the jurisdiction of the state Assembly, Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah claimed that the letter would not affect the international agreement between the two countries.
