Children education allowance revised to Rs 1,000 per child
New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) The government today said it has revised the children education allowance for government servants to Rs 1,000 per child per month for two children under the the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.
Earlier, the education allowance was given to all employees in the form of reimbursement of tuition fee at the rate of Rs 40 per month per child for children studying from Class I to Class X.
Under the scheme, the Children Education Allowance and Reimbursement of Tuition Fee, which were hitherto payable separately, will be merged and will henceforth be known as 'Children Education Allowance Scheme'.
The annual ceiling fixed for reimbursement is Rs 12,000.
The reimbursement can be availed by government servants up to a maximum of two children.
The reimbursement of allowance will have no nexus with the performance of the child in his class.
The reimbursement for tuition fee, admission fee, laboratory fee, special fee charged for agriculture, electronics, music or any other subject can be claimed under the scheme.
