Islamabad, Sept 3 : PPP Co-chairman and presidential hopeful, Asif Ali Zardari has said that the upcoming presidential election will not be an easy victory for his party, but a close fight. Though, he claimed the support of 90 percent of political parties.

"It's going to be a fight, it's not going to be a walkover," Zardari said, adding that he had the support of "90 percent of political forces".

The presidential election has turned out to be a triangular contest among PPP's Asif Ali Zardari, PML-Q's Senator Mushahid Hussain and PML-N candidate Saeeduz Zaman Siddiqui.

The PPP co-chairman, who is widely expected to win the September 6 presidential election, said that he remained hopeful that he would become Pakistan's next president. He said the bad press surrounding his candidacy was motivated by fear, reported the Daily Times.

"Our party has fought for and represents liberal values," he said, and added "People are wrongly wary of liberals."

He said the allegation that he lied on the holy Quran was part of the campaign to vilify him and the liberal values that he represented. "We don't believe in taking or giving political oaths on the Holy Quran," he said.
