Dehri-on-Sone, Sept 3 (UNI) At least two Maoist guerrillas were killed and another was arrested following an encounter with the security forces at a remote village in the extremist dominated Rohtas district early today.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikash Vaibav said acting on a tip off a group of armed guerrillas had assembled at Sali village, about 30 km from here, a joint team of CRPF and Special Task Force (STF) jawans rushed to the spot and surrounded the village at around 0300 hours.
Soon a fierce encounter ensued when the security forces asked the guerrillas to surrender. As the extrtemists started indiscriminate firing from automatic weapons, the joint forces retaliated immediately killing two of them on the spot.
Later another extremist was caught by the security forces while other members of the group fled under the cover of darkness leaving behind a cache of arms and ammunition.
'' Blood stains in the area indicated that some other extremists might have been injured in the hour long encounter and were carried away by their comrades while escaping, '' the SP said adding two rifles, some carbines and several rounds of cartridges apart from some naxalite literatures were recovered from the spot.
Soon the entire area was cordoned off and an intensive search was on to nab the fleeing extremists, the SP added.
