Three customs officials caught taking bribe
Gandhidham, Sep 3 (UNI) Three customs officials of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), near here, were today caught red handed accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from an industrialist by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths.
According to CBI sources here, senior officials of Trison Chemical Industry had lodged a complaint with the CBI in Ahmedabad that three preventive officers of customs sections of SEZ had been demanding bribe to clear containers imported or exported.
As per the trap set up by CBI, a Trison company representative asked three officials-Rakesh Ranjan, G S Meena and Mukesh Asnani to come to the gate of the SEZ in Free Trade Zone area to hand over the amount. When two of the officials turned up and accepted Rs one lakh as bribe, they were caught red handed by the CBI and arrested. The other official was arrested after getting information from them.
CBI also raided their residential premises and offices.
