Six Mizo police killed in militants' ambush
Aizawl, Sep 2 (UNI) Six personnel of the first Indian Reserve battalion were killed in a militants' ambush near Saiphai village near the Manipur border in Mizoram today.
According to police sources, Sub-inspector Lalrindika and five constables were killed, as they were ambushed by an unidentified underground outfit between Saiphai and Saipum villages under Kolasib district today.
The police, travelling in two vehicles, were escorting the salaries of Serlui B Hydel Project employees near Saipum village, police sources told UNI here today.
They were 17 police personnel in the two vehicles of which one managed to slip and informed to IR battalion posted at Saiphai headquarters.
The IR police immediately rushed to the spot and the militants fled immediately.
