Bhopal, Sep 3 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said Singur-like situation would not be allowed to develop in case of setting up of ambitious Tata's Nano car project in the state.
Mr Chouhan made the statement during an informal discussion with reporters at his official residence here today.
He said he wanted that Tata Group set up a car manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh. The government would provide necessary facilities to Tata Group in this regard.
''The government would facilitate direct talks between the investor and farmers in this state and would play the role of mediator only. This would ensure welfare of both the sides,'' he said.
The Chief Minister said the government would make efforts that farmers being displaced due to the project be rehabilitated in a better manner without much inconvenience to the investor.
He said a member of the displaced family should get employment besides a business premises wherever possible.
Referring to textile mill to be established at Budhni in Sehore district, Mr Chouhan said peasants received a compensation of more than three times the market price of their land.
The CM, who had already invited Tata Group for setting up the project, said he was still awaiting reply from the Group.
