Sarin to take oath as Chief Justice of J

Jammu, Sep 3 (UNI) Justice Manmohan Sarin, the first puisne judge of the Delhi High Court, would be taking oath tomorrow as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, official sources said here today.

Justice Sarin (60) would be the 26th Chief Justice of the J&K High Court.

Justice Sarin was elevated as the Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on May 17, 1995 and later as permanent Judge of the same Court on December 6, 1996, the sources added.

He was the first puisne Judge in the Delhi High Court before being elevated as Chief Justice of the State High Court, they said.

Born in October 1946, Justice Sarin enrolled as an advocate in 1979, practicising in the Delhi High Court, District Courts or occasionally in the Supreme Court in civil and constitutional matters.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra would administer the oath of office to Justice Sarin at the Raj Bhavan.

Meanwhile, a farewell function was also organised by the Jammu District Judicial Officers in honour of outgoing Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan, who has been transferred to the Gujarat High Court.
