Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Siddaramaiah, who returned from Delhi after meeting Ms Gandhi and other Central leaders on appointment of new Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, said that the new Chief for the State unit may be announced within a couple of days.
"I have met central leaders of the party including Ahmed Patel, Prithviraj Chauhan, besides Ms Gandhi and conveyed my views on the appointment of new KPCC President", he added.
Refuting the reports that he has put certain conditions for accepting the President post, Mr Siddaramaiah, who joined Congress after rebelling against JD(S) national President H D Deve Gowda, said that "I am ready to work in any capacity to serve the party in the state".
The KPCC President post has remained vacant sine last June after Mr Mallikarjun Kharge resigning after party's debacle in May Assembly elections.
Congress High Command has taken initiative to fill the post since by-elections to seven assembly seats following resignation of the sitting opposition members quitting to join the ruling BJP party. The by election is due in November.
