Punjab pays tribute to Ishmeet on his 20th birthday
Ludhiana, Sep 3 (UNI) To celebrate the 20th birthday of winner of 'Star Voice of India' contest late Ishmeet Singh, a state-level function was organised by the Punjab Government at Guru Nanak Bhawan last night.
In the fuction, jointly organised by the departments of Information and Public Relations and Cultural Affairs, renowned Punjabi singers Hans Raj Hans, Harbhajan Man, Dolli Gularia and other leading singers presented musical tributes to the departed singer.
Speaking on the occasion, Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia announced that the birthday of Ishmeet would be celebrated every year by organising a function, where prominent singers of the country would be invited to perform.
The Minister added that all the required formalities would be completed soon to establish an international level Sangeet Academy at Ludhiana and for this purpose Ishmeet Singh Foundation had been registered.
On the occasion the Minister unveiled a wax statue of Ishmeet created by the renowned artist, Chander Shekhar Parbhakar.
Cultural Affairs Minister Hira Singh Gabria assured that the Cultural Department would extend all kind of assistance to the Sangeet Academy.
In the function, which was attended by large number of political leaders and other prominent persons, Ishmeet's father Mr Gurpinder Singh and mother Mrs Amrit Pal Kaur were honoured.
