Jaipur, Sep 3: The Rajasthan police on Tuesday, Sep 2 said that the e-mail sent to the television channels after the Jaipur bomb explosions in May, 2008 was drafted by Abu Bashir and software engineer Tauqeer, both key accused in Ahmedabad serial blasts.
A K Jain, the Additional Director General of Police (CID-CB) told media that the mail, running into seven-eight pages, was sent by the Indian Mujahideen to the electronic media on May 14, a day after a string of blasts in the Pink City of Jaipur. Bashir, the alleged mastermind behind the July 26 Ahmedabad bombings, is in Gujarat Police custody while Tauqeer alias Subhan is still absconding. Shahabad Hussain, key accused in Jaipur serial blasts revealed the involvement of Abu Bashir and Tauqeer in the serial blasts and the email send to TV channels. Hussain is sustained for interrogation. Religious inputs in the mail were provided by Bashir.
The interrogation of Hussain was carried out by the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state police. The SOG-SIT recovered a number of CDs and other software material from Shahabad's PCO in Lucknow and were examining these, Jain said.
The CDs contained speeches of 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden, terror training camps and the destruction of Buddha statues in Afghanistan, the police officer said. More arrests were likely in the Jaipur serial blasts case soon, he said.
The Rajasthan Police were also investigating whether Mehandi, Imran and Ateeq, three other accused in Ahmedabad blasts and now in Gujarat Police custody, had any role in Jaipur bombings, Jain said. On the arrest of four SIMI activists in Kota on Tuesday, Sep 2, he said it was not yet known whether they had any link with Pink City blasts.
