New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) After their pleas to the Central Government to conduct a CBI probe into the circumstances of Ishmeet Singh's death failed to elicit a response, the father and uncle of the 'Star Voice of India' winner today left for Maldives to ascertain the cause of his death.

Ishmeet's father Gurbindar Singh and uncle Charankamal Singh this afternoon left for Maldives to survey the site in the hotel where Ishmeet is said to have died of drowning on July 29.

''Our visit to Maldives is to personally enquire into and try to ascertain the circumstances and exact causes of Ishmeet's death as we believe that his death was not due to drowning as reported in the media,''Ishmeet's father Gurbinder Singh and uncle Charankamal told reports before leaving for the tourist town.

Dr Charankamal Singh, a renowned doctor in Punjab, said they wanted the Central Government to expedite their request for a CBI enquiry into Ishmeet's death.

Informing that a request for CBI enquiry into the death of the singer had been made to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as far back as August 3 which the latter had immediately forwarded to the Centre, Dr Singh said the request had till date elicited no response from the Centre.

''Tired by the delay, we have now decided to visit Maldives to see for ourselves the site where Ishmeet was reported to be drowned so as to get some clues into the real cause of his death,'' Dr Singh told UNI.

Ishmeet's uncle said when they recieved the news of the death of Ishmeet at the Maldives hotel due to drowning, they had accepted it.

''However, when Ishmeet's body arrived in India, we saw that there was a blood clot on the right side of his temple and another clot on the forehead, both of which appeared to have been caused by a blow from a blunt object.

Further, the reports of Ishmeet's death emenating from Maldives showed drowning to be the secondary cause of death. So, what was the primary cause, we wondered. All this makes us feel that there could be some foul play into his death,''Dr Singh said.

He said that a number of other things made them wonder whether drowning was the actual cause of Ishmeet's death.

''For example, why would a person going into a swimming pool go with all his clothes on. Also surprising is the decision of the the organisers of the concert to hold it in Maldives and not in places like United Kingdom and Canada where Ishmeet has a huge fan following,''Ishmeet's father said.
