HC fixes Sept 12 for hearing Punjab assembly special committee case

Candigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) Th Punjab and Haryana high court today fixed September 12 as the date for hearing the writ petition filed by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh challenging the constitution of the special committee by Punjab Vidhan Sabha to go into the issue of exemption granted by the previous Congress regime to a piece of land which the Improvement Trust, Amritsar had excluded from a scheme of residential houses notified by it.

Division Bench of Justice Hement Gupta and Justice Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia passed the order for the next hearing after hearing the petition in which Capt Singh had alleged that the committee had been constituted with political motives.

Similar writ petition has also been filed by former minister Jagjit Singh Chaudhary and some others on the same subject. It has also been fixed for September 12.
