New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Delhi Power Minister A K Walia today told all the three DISCOMs to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Ramzan month and Ramlila celebrations in the Capital city.
Chairing a high-level weekly Power Review meeting, attended by Delhi Power Secretary, CEOs of DISCOMs and senior officers of the Power Department, DTL and IPGL, Dr Walia directed the DISCOMs to purchase power in such a way as to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Ramzan and Ramlilas as government is committed to provide all basic amenities during these days.
''Any disruption in power supply can affect religious fervour and celebrations. It becomes necessary for the government to act to see for itself that there remain proper lighting during this period,'' Dr Walia said and directed DISCOMs to ensure cent per cent functioning of streetlights to avoid any mis-happening in darkness as movement of people becomes frequent during these days.
Dr Walia further issued directions to DISCOMs to concentrate on round-the-clock power supply and avoid frequent power cuts. He has also asked DISCOMs to go for short-term power procurement keeping in view the weekly weather forecast. This would help in ensuring power supply irrespective of weather fluctuations. He also directed DISCOMs to keep him abreast about difficulties being faced by them so that timely solution could be arrived at.
Implementation of the new power Amnesty Scheme was also discussed in the meeting. It was reported by the DISCOMs that large number of consumers are coming forward to take the benefit. The new scheme would remain open upto September 24.
