Educomp, EQFI to give out India Education Awards
New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) With Teacher's Day around the corner, Educomp Solutions Ltd, a leading education company, and the Education Quality Foundation of India (EQFI) today said they will give out the 'India Education Awards' to recognise and reward the outstanding contributions in the sector.
''Instituted by EQFI, the awards are an effort to ensure that quality in education is brought into focus. We will seek to reward excellence in education, motivate educators and provide a platform to showcase leadership in the education sector,'' Educomp CEO and Managing Director Shantanu Prakash told reporters here.
The awards have prominent educationists on panel, like the former Chairman of CBSE B P Khandelwal, DPS (R K Puram) Principal Shyama Chona, St Columba's Principal Brother Lobo, and Modern School (Barakhamba Road) Principal Lata Vaidyanathan.
The awards will cover all types of schools, government and private, from all states in India.
''Over 100 awards will be given across broad categories including Teachers' Awards, School Leaders' Awards, Whole School Awards, Government Initiatives and NGO Awards in the area of education,'' Mr Prakash said.
Educomp will sponsor the awards. ''We will give awards worth more than Rs one crore. These awards would be a combination of cash, education grants, opportunity for professional development and teacher exchange programs with renowned global institutions,'' he said.
For awards distribution, the country will be divided into six zones, which will be further sub-divided into smaller parts in order to reach the maximum number of schools and educators.
Each zone will have a regional committee to facilitate the nomination process and a jury will decide on winners from the region.
The nominations for awards will open in the next few weeks and the first edition of the awards will be held early next year.
