Hyderabad, Sep 3 (UNI) CPI(M) Politbureau Member Sitaram Yechury said his party would take a final decision on the political alliance with the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Andhra Pradesh to fight the Congress in the comming Assembly elections.
Talking to media after a meeting with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu today at his residence, where the CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat was also present, Mr Yechuri said the party would take a decision at its politbureau meeting at New Delhi.
Asked whether the party was willing to forge an alliance with the TDP, he said ''now I am in the residence of the TDP President. We want to go in for an alliance with the party. But, I cannot say anything now.'' ''We discussed various matters and the political situation.Earlier also, the Left Parties worked with the TDP,'' he added.
Asked about Actor Chiranjeevi's 'Praja Rajyam' (party) Official Spokesperson Mitra meeting him and Mr Karat, he said ''Dr Mitra is my friend. It is a courtesy call. It is not an imporant matter.'' ''Dr Mitra briefed about his party. Both of us discussed about the political situation,'' he said.
Mr Naidu defended the party's efforts to forge alliances with other parties for the next Assembly polls, as the TDP's main intention was to defeat the Congress government in the State.
