Tiruchirapalli, Sep 3 (UNI) The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) here has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 13 engineering colleges affiliated to the Anna University, Tiruchirapalli, to make available its infrastructure for engineering students to undergo in-plant training.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, BSNL Principal General Manager A Balraj said the colleges were among the 23 institutions which were provided bandwidth connectivity by the BSNL. ''We have some of the best telecommunication equipment and the students will get hands on training through them. We are willing to accommodate more engineering colleges in the training programme,'' he added.
He said the BSNL had launched pre-paid service for wireless in local loop connections with limited mobility on the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network in Tiruchirapalli region. Under this scheme, the connections would be offered under four tariff plans.
The service would include short message service facility and data service would be available soon.
He said the BSNL had launched the plan 'Gramin-75' for rural customers and reduced the fixed monthly charge of Sulab Plan to Rs 99 a month from Rs 120. It had also launched a promotional plan, 'Oorum Uravum,' for rural customers where universal service obligation-funded towers were situated.
