New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Publications Division has brought out a biographical book on Acharya Ramchandra Shukla which was released by Prof Manager Pandey, renowned Hindi critic and scholar, at the ongoing Delhi Book Fair today.
Acharya Ramchandra Shukla is known to have introduced the genre of 'criticism' in the Hindi literary tradition. Most of the books on Acharya Shukla available in the market are focused on his works mainly as a critic.
But this book co-authored by his granddaughter Mukta and great-granddaughter Kusum Chaturvedi, also presents various hitherto unknown aspects of his familial and social life.
Dr Mukta, the Co-Director of 'Acharya Ramchandra Shukla Sahitya Shodh Sansthan' Varanasi, herself is an established writer. The 277 page book complete with rare pictures of the litterateur, is reasonably priced at Rs 165.
Welcoming the guests in the function, Additional Director General (Employment News) Ghanshyam Goyal said Acharya Shukla always insisted on keeping Hindi simple, as a language of the common man.
The present work accomplished in the same style is an authentic biography of the writer, he said.
He mentioned that Publications Division with a modest beginning in 1941, had emerged as one of the biggest publishing organisations in India.
With a mandate to publish books on matters of national importance at affordable prices, the Division publishes books in thirteen Indian languages.
It has nearly 8,000 titles in English, Hindi and other major Indian languages to its credit.
