Akram feels it's time for Kumble to go

New Delhi, Sep 3 (UNI) Supporting coach Gary Kirsten's view that the ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is ready for the Test captaincy also, Legendary pace bowler Wasim Akram toady stated that now the time has come for the India Test captain Anil kumble to bid adieu.

''I respect Anil for what he has achieved. He has done enough for India and I think it's time for him to take a bow at a time when he is still counted as one of the best,'' Akram told a private news channel.

Akram said, Kumble had his day in the sun after taking over the rein from former Indian Test skipper Rahul Dravid, taking over 50 wickets in 12 Tests, at an average of 36.14, much higher than his overall figures, but he need to know when he has to say goodbye.

The Bangalorean, who was the main strike bowler of the 90s, has also brought three wins to India with five losses.

Kumble has featured in 130 Tests for the country, taking 616 wickets at an average of 29.33, the third-highest tally in Test cricket's history, behind off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne.

Adding to his tally of 337 wickets from 271 ODIs, Kumble has 50 shy of 1000 international wickets.

Akram appreciated Dhoni leadership skills and said, ''He had set an example of leading from the front, which even under-fire Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik should try and follow.'' UNI PY RKM PM1600
