15 Naval diving team sent to Bihar
Visakhapatnam, Sep 3 (UNI) 15 Naval diving teams from Eastern Naval Command were rushed to the flood-affected areas of Bihar to augment rescue and relief operations there, a press release issued said here today.
According to the release, the teams, provided with inflatable crafts were rushed following a request by the Bihar Government.
A couple of days ago, outboard motors, rescue equipment and medical supplies were airlifted by IAF aircraft from Barabanki.
Till now as many as 685 villagers have been rescued by the Naval divers, the release said.
The Indian Navy has sent diving teams from all three Naval commands and a total of 141 divers includinng officers have been mobilised to provide relief to the affected people, the release added.
Navy chief Admiral Suresh Mehta said the Navy will stand by the stricken people of Bihar.
