Agartala, Sep 2 (UNI) Police arrested two persons from the Indo-Bangladesh bordering villages of North Tripura district for depositing two fake foreign bank drafts in different banks of the area.
Police said here today that the accused Md Ambar Ali (45) of Magurali village had deposited a fake bank draft of Rs 40,000, issued by Al-Radhi Bank of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to Tripura Gramin Bank branch at Tillabazar last week while Md Kuddus Ali (35) of Yazikhowra village had deposited another fake bank draft of Rs 30,500 issued by the same bank to UBI Gurnagar branch.
Both bank drafts had been sent to the UBI, Agartala for verification and it was revealed those were fake and subsequently police arrested the accused persons yesterday.
Initial investigation established that Ambar's younger brother Akkas Ali, who had been working in a Hero Honda sales counter in Bangladesh, had gifted the drafts to them.
Meanwhile, the BSF rescued seven seriously injured brickfield workers from the captivity of a brick kiln manager at Nakashipara area of North Tripura. However, no arrest was made so far.
BSF officials today said one Sahed Ali and Billal Mian of Assam's Barpeta district had brought 15 brick kiln labourers from Balikuri village of the district last month with a promise to pay Rs 150 per day in Silchar but finally they were brought to Nakashipara area of Kamalpur.
''No payment was made even after two weeks of hard labour and when we asked for the money brickfield manager Sandeep Dev assaulted us and our movement beyond the kiln was stopped. But two of us managed to escape from the field on Sunday night and informed the matter to the BSF,'' one of the victims said.
BSF jawans, led by 14th Battalion Commandant Prabin Singh, raided the brick kiln yesterday following the report and rescued 13 other labourers and filed a complaint with labour authorities as well as police, the sources added.
