Sarkar lashes PM on policy issues
Agartala, Sep 2 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has lambasted the UPA government at the Centre for its policy and the move of signing the Indo-US civil nuclear deal, while warning that the Left parties ''would not allow imperialism in India.'' Addressing an ''anti-imperialism'' rally here yesterday, Mr Sarkar alleged that the Congress-led government had been trying to jeopardise the country's sovereignty and unique and independent foreign policy for facilitating market support to the US.
Mr Sarkar blamed the Manmohan Singh government for the price rise and inflation in the country and came down heavily on the UPA government for not making efforts to implement major pro-people policies.
''The US has already entered the agriculture, industry, education, business and even retail marketing sectors in our country and one instance is Wall Mart, which is gradually trying to control our market, and for all these our Prime Minister is responsible,'' he said.
''The US is trying to control India's economy with the help of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organisation and slowly they are entering and capturing our markets,'' Mr Sarkar added.
