Kovalam literary festival to commence from Oct 6
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 2 (UNI) Well-known writers from different parts of the country will converge here from October six to eight for the Kovalam Literary Festival.
An organising committee release today said biographer and historian Patrick French, novelist, columnist and former senior official of the UN Shashi Tharoor, historian and author William Dalrymple, prominent Urdu poet and lyricist Gulzar, 2008 Booker Prize long lister Aravind Adiga, editor and author Tarun Tejpal, best selling Indian authors like Shobha De, Namita Devidayal and poetess Tishani Doshi would be among the glittering array of writers gracing the occasion.
Legendary Malayalam writers M T Vasudevan Nair, M Mukundan, K Satchidanandan and Zachariah will speak at the festival. The main debate of the session will be ''Writing in a globalised world''.
There will be another debate on regional writing.
''I am happy that an international literary festival is being brought to Kerala for the first time. It is a great and rare occasion for book lovers and literature students in the state to hear and interact with such writers,'' writer M T Vasudevan Nair said.
